Climatology

These entities are the Field Atmospheric Climatologists (FACs). They are a remarkable example of a highly social form that has evolved complex mechanisms for communication, social organisation, and navigation. They communicate with each other using a variety of methods, including chemical, tactile, and visual cues.

FACs are able to use a combination of visual landmarks and the earth's magnetic field to navigate and provide critical cues to and from the hive. They are also able to integrate information from the position of the sun and their internal sense of time to accurately calculate the direction and distance to a food source. They detect changes in temperature, humidity and are also able to sense changes in barometric pressure, which can help them predict changes in the weather and other environmental effects.
